2026
I’m extremely proud to be the captain of the Rotorua Boys’ High School 1st XI Hockey team for 2025, and to have led the side to achieve its highest ever national ranking. It’s a real honour to represent my school, peers, and community both on and off the field, and I take great pride in the opportunities hockey has given me to grow as a leader and as an athlete. At school, I’ve consistently shown leadership through sport and a strong commitment to my team. Being captain of the 1st XI has given me the chance to mentor younger players, build a positive and supportive team culture, and lead by example during training and in competition. Outside of school, I’ve been fortunate to achieve success at both regional and national levels. In 2023, I was selected for the Under-21 New Zealand Māori Men’s Hockey team, and I was honoured to represent New Zealand Māori Men again in 2025. This year, I’ve also been named captain of the Bay of Plenty Under-18 Men’s Hockey team—something I’m really proud of, as it reflects the leadership, determination, and skills I’ve worked hard to develop. These achievements also led to my selection as a Rotorua Young Achiever for 2025, which was a special moment of recognition for me. More than anything, I value the friendships, discipline, and resilience I’ve gained through hockey. I’m deeply grateful to my coaches, whānau, and teachers for the support and encouragement they’ve given me on this journey. They’ve helped me reach my potential and represent both my school and my culture with pride. Looking ahead, I’m committed to continuing to balance my education with my hockey goals, while giving back to my community through leadership and sport. One day, I hope to take my talent to the national stage and fulfil my dream of playing for my country.
