Jacob West | Music / Performing Arts

Kia ora, my name is Jacob and I am in Year 12 at Bethlehem College, in Tauranga. Performing is my passion, whether it be singing, acting or dancing on the stage. From a young age I have embraced all genres and have worked hard to nurture and grow these skills alongside amazing teachers who have generously encouraged, refined and nurtured me.

I love the way a stage creates community, allowing each person to bring their talents that when combined, a special kind of electricity is formed. Encouraging others and being part of something meaningful brings me great satisfaction and joy.

Over the past 18 months I have become increasingly interested in musical direction and have been given the opportunity to musically direct my first youth show with WRAPA (Wright Rohde Academy of Performing Arts) , ’13-The Musical’ and next year will be the assistant musical director of the TMT (Tauranga Musical Theatre) Baycourt show Come From Away. As an individual energised by rhythm and harmonies, I enjoy strong pieces of music that allow contrasts to be exposed in the most authentic way.

This year I will compete at PACNZ (Performing Arts Competition New Zealand) for the second time as a double nominee in both Musical Theatre and Speech and Drama, where I hope to bring my best to the national stage.
