James Rouse | Sport

My name is James Rouse I have spent most of my life in a small town called Cambridge I have always had a passion for sports and the outdoors doing and enjoying it my whole life and don’t plan to quite I started playing hockey for Leamington primary school at the age of 7, this is where my passion and love for the game started. I had always had a knacked for it and my talents kept growing when I got selected for the u15a Cambridge high school team when I was year 8 and ripe age of 12 that year year was a highlight as i was able to gain the second top goal scorer in the Waikato comp. Moving into high school I was lucky enough to get chosen for the Cambridge high school 1st 11 making my debut in the high school big leagues early on. That year Cambridge won the Olympic stick tier 3 tournament earning us a spot in the prestigious Rankin cup and India shield. The following year I played in both the try series and north harbor u16 tournaments for Waikato placing 3rd in both Rankin cup that year was rough for Cambridge as we got 26th 1 spot of relegation.
My yr 11 year was different though playing again in both the u16 tournaments and even captaining the team placing 1st in the try series and 3rd at north harbor tournament. Cambridge also getting a record at India shield coming 22nd. That year I decide I wanted to take my talents to HBHS where i was exposed to a new style of play new coach’s and amazing new friends and teammates this helped me achieve my goal of winning super 8 and getting selected into the future black sticks camp. Ranking we also placed in the top 10 the best I have ever done I was so happy with everyone. I don’t plan to stop now I am exited for my following year at HBHS and plan to keep improving to achieve my overall dream of getting into the black sticks.
