Anthony East | Sport
2018Hi my name is Anthony East. I am 15 years old and have been wakeboarding for 6 years. I first got into wakeboarding when I used to go out water skiing with my family every weekend and started wakeboarding competitively when I was 11. I love being out on the boat wakeboarding, training hard and pushing myself to land new tricks, nothing can beat the feeling of landing something new for the first time!
During the colder months I enjoy Trampolining, this helps keep up my fitness, aerial awareness for new tricks and muscle memory. I also play Hockey for my school team .
I have been selected to represent New Zealand at the World Wakeboarding Championships to be held in Mexico in February 2018. This will be my second time at a World Championships as I competed in 2015 also in Mexico. Prior to this event I spent 3 weeks in Orlando training to learn new tricks and execute my runs to how I had planned.
In February 2017 I was part of the New Zealand team competing at the Asia Oceania Wakeboard Championships, here I placed 3rd in the U14 division. I am very lucky to be selected to represent New Zealand once again at a World Championships and I want to make the most of this amazing opportunity. The 2016/17 season has been my best year so far in terms of results and progression. I have won all 3 WakeNZ sanctioned events for my age group and placed first in the Open Division at the 2017 Boards ānā BBQs groms comp.
I am looking forward to another great season and getting out on the water as much as I can with family and friends.
