My name is Tim Pringle. I was born in the Netherlands. My mum Janine is Dutch and my dad Chris is a New Zealander. When I was 2 we moved from The Netherlands to Tauranga. I started playing cricket in my backyard and straightaway loved the game. All I wanted to do is go to the nets in my nearby park and hit balls. I have come through the rankings of Tauranga’s Albion cricket club and went from playing for Western BOP cricket age group teams to playing for BOP and Northern Districts well above my age. I was the youngest ever to get selected in the Bay of Plenty Senior Men’s Team when I was 15 years and 74 days (Kane Williamson was 15 and 111 days).
Last year, aged 16, I played for the Northern Districts A Men’s team and I have been training with the wider Northern Districts Men’s squad. In March 2019 I was selected for New Zealand Under 19 to tour Bangladesh and to play Bangladesh U19 in Christchurch in October. Hopefully this will all lead to a selection for the U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa in January 2020.
I am a Year 12 student at Tauranga Boys College and play in the First XI of the school. I am passionate about the game and try to pass this on to young cricketers by coaching them.
