I hail from the sunny Bay of Plenty, a place which is fast becoming a hub for elite sports in New Zealand and the world. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Sport and Human Performance at the Tauranga campus of Waikato University.
I have played many sports over the years, but my one true passion is Olympic Weightlifting. Currently.

I train with a team consisting of Commonwealth Games and World Championship lifters. I live with two of the girls that I train with, both of whom, have aspirations to compete at the next Olympics. It’s fair to say that I do not have a say on what we watch on T.V or anything else that goes on in the house for that matter.

I have been fortunate enough to have a number of unique experiences within the sport across a wide range of roles. Through my involvement as an athlete, I have travelled to New Caledonia with the NZ team for the Oceania Junior Championships, where I gained a silver medal.

In addition to my travels as an athlete, I also attended the Junior World Championships where I was employed as part of the media team by the International Weightlifting Federation. Unbeknownst to all, I was not actually a VIP like my accreditation indicated, nevertheless had the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in the sport.

Aside from being an athlete, and a part-time photographer/videographer, I am also active in the NZ Weightlifting community as a referee, coach, and volunteer, and have travelled around the country to referee a number of events. I am also the coach of the current New Zealand 73kg Masters record holder.

Currently, I am training hard in preparation for the National Championships in November, where I hope to retain my title and help Carl (my athlete) to set a few new NZ Master’s records.
