I was born in Rotorua and grew up in Tauranga, where I am currently a Year 12 student at Tauranga Boys’ College. My passion for sports has been a constant throughout my life. I began with JMC Rugby, playing across various grades, but my journey took a new direction in high school when I discovered a deep enthusiasm for throwing events, focusing on shot put and discus.
Although often seen as an underdog, I’ve made significant strides in my athletic career over the past few years. My approach to success is rooted in perseverance and self-improvement. For me, success is not just about traditional victories; it’s also about overcoming challenges in training, closing gaps with competitors, improving my performance from previous meets, or achieving personal bests. Each of these milestones represents a true victory, with any podium finish being an added bonus.
A career highlight this year was representing New Zealand in the U18 Oceania team competing in Suva, Fiji, where I earned a bronze medal in discus. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of many people. I’m grateful to the neighbor who first introduced me to throwing, the coaches who have honed my skills, and my parents, who have sacrificed so much to ensure I can train and compete across the country.
