Aimee Elliott | Sport
2020My name is Aimee Elliott, and I am 19 years old. I made a move up from Methven, Canterbury to the Waikato in beginning my studies at the University of Waikato on the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship for triathlon.
Growing up in a small rural town, I found that sport opened many doors for me, and also allowed me to meet people and grow my network throughout my region and across the country. Sport also continues to push my physical and mental barriers which I love seeing the results of. I am always seeking opportunities to improve myself both in triathlon and outside of triathlon in my academics and career goals.
Until I made the switch to triathlon at 17, I was a competitive swimmer and ran at a national level, which helped my transition to triathlon. Moving to the Waikato 18 months ago has helped me significantly with all the facilities and support from both the university and my coaches. I am still relatively new the sport the future of myself in triathlon and my to see what I can do with my potential excites me as triathlon is very much a long-haul sport.
