Ben Grindrod | Sport

My name is Ben Grindrod, I am a Professional Squash Player. I have been born and bred in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. I attended Tauranga Boys’ College. I started playing the Sport Squash at the age of Eleven at what is now Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre. I got into the Sport through my Dad who is a big sports fan also my friends who all play the sport too. My favourite attributes of the Sport Squash is that it includes pretty much all aspects of Fitness as well as this, it teaches you to look after your body. Growing up at Tauranga Squash Club a big inspiration of mine was squash Legend, Dame Susan Devoy.

However besides Squash I study part time under the University of Waikato here in Tauranga towards a Business Degree. My hobbies include playing the guitar, listening to music, yoga and enjoying the great scenes Mount Maunganui has to offer. My main attributes are having a high work ethic, confidence, having a high attention to detail and being well organized.

I have travelled the world the past three years on the Professional Squash Tour which has seen me venture to pretty much every corner of the globe chasing tournaments to improve my world ranking. My favourite country besides New Zealand of course would be Canada because of the hospitable people and amazing sights to see including the Rocky Mountains!
