Briana Perry | Sport

I am currently a year 12 student at Tauranga Girls’ College with a passion for sport and recreational activities, in particular cricket and hockey. I currently play cricket and hockey to a high level including playing first class cricket for Northern Districts. I am a caring, considerate, loyal and responsible young person who is highly regarded by my teachers and peers. My work ethic and time management is very good making it possible for me to balance my busy schooling and sporting schedules. This year I am working hard to Merit endorse NCEA level 2 having gained Merit endorsement in NCEA level I last year. I am wanting to gain entry to study a Bachelor of Optometry at Auckland University when I leave school.
My short term sporting goals are to continue to play both hockey and cricket at a high level and to challenge myself to improve in each team and sport that I play. This will include retaining and consolidating my position in the Northern Districts first class cricket team. To do this will require me to travel to and attend various training camps within the Northern Districts catchment area and the scholarship will assist me with the travel and associated costs.
With continued hard work, commitment and dedication to both my academic and sporting aspirations I believe I can achieve my goals of becoming an optometrist and playing cricket for New Zealand.
