2020I’m a super motivated, hard working, fun loving person whom enjoys sports, particularly my sport of Show Jumping. I have ridden horses for 16 years now and it has been a big part of my life. I love the connection you can build between a horse and rider to form a unique bond, it’s a special feeling and it is so important because when you are in the competition ring together there is no one else to help you but the horse you’ve build a bond with – the horse tries as hard for you as you try for them. Between my sister and I we have a team of 6 Show Jumping horses that we compete from September through to March each year. I am a really family orientated person! My Mum, Dad, sister and I all travel to the competitions together as a family unit, we spend a lot of time together and I love them to bits. Having a team of Show Jumpers is no easy task, it takes a lot of hard work and determination to prepare both yourself and these horses for competition. Riding horses has taught me a lot about patience, resilience and shear determination and it continues to teach me more and more every day – this is a main reason why I love this sport so much. In amongst my Show Jumping I am also in my 3rd and final year at Waikato University studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biotechnology and a second major in Health, Sport and Human Performance. I plan to use this degree in human physiology terms to help improve aspects of athletes’ performance to help them maintain or achieve great results.
