Gemma Cordery | Sport

My name is Gemma Cordery and I am a 16-year-old from Cambridge High School, Waikato. I am a hardworking passionate track cyclist who is very driven about my long-term goal towards competing at the Los Angeles Olympic games in 2028. I am committed to cycling and I train on average around 11-13 hours per week comprising of on and off-track time. This dedication helps with not only my riding but also off the bike with other opportunities like jobs and schoolwork. I am extremely eager and willing to learn new skills that will help me achieve my short- and long-term goals. A few sporting goals I am striving towards consist of getting selected for the Waikato Performance Hub in 2022 and then being chosen for Jr Worlds Championships in the upcoming years. In the years to come I would love to qualify for the Olympics and represent New Zealand in my sport and be a role model to all younger cyclists. I believe that everyone should be treated fairly and equal in both sport and life and I hope to give back to my sport at every opportunity. I am extremely grateful for the chance to apply for this Scholarship and I appreciate your consideration. Thank you
