Jackson Ogle | Sport
2021My name is Jackson Ogle and I am from Cambridge New Zealand. I have been Track Cycling for just over 5 years. My goal is to be in the New Zealand Elite Men’s Sprint squad, training towards future Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
I first started cycling in Christchurch as a Summer season sport for Rugby Training – but after setting a New Zealand record time after only 3 months – I decided to focus on the track. We moved to Cambridge and I have been training in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Performance Hub and the Pathway to Podium program. Both of these have helped me invaluably with support on and off the Track.
For the past couple years I have also been riding a tandem bike with Mitchell Wilson, a young athlete who lost his sight as a result of a tumour. Mitchell has been working towards his dream of competing in the Para-Olympics. In 2019 and 2020 we competed in the World championships in Netherlands and Canada. This experience, although challenging, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Outside of Cycling my hobbies are hunting, fishing and water sports.
To help finance my cycling goals I have set up a small business called
CL Fence Painting Services. I enjoy the flexiblity of being able to operate between my training schedules.
Over the next year I am concentrating on improving my personal bests in timed events with the ultimate goal of becoming a member of the NZ Elite Team.
