Hi im Jessica Turfrey.
I am a full time student at the University of Waikato doing a bachelor of Sports health and human performance. I am currently in my first year of this paper and with great pride a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholar. Along with full time university i am also full time with my rowing. I was lucky enough to represent NZ in the Junior (under19) team last year where i raced in the Netherlands at the Junior world championships gaining 4th in the world. A result i was very pleased with. As a result of this i was selected into the Waikato Regional Performance team (WRPC) where i have training since last year. Through my success’ over summer and my successful racing at the NZ under 21 trials, i was able to gain selection in the NZ under 21 team where i was the second best single sculler. I have already competed overseas at Penrith earlier this year and are now looking forward to my second set of racing against Australia in late August this year. My future and growth within rowing is still continuing as i look forward to hopefully gaining selection into the WRPC for the 2017/2018 team.
