Julia Ebert | Sport
2018Julia Ebert is an energetic, motivated and hard-working student and hockey player from Hamilton.
Growing up playing hockey in the winter and sailing in the summer, Julia has had a busy and active childhood. She has been highly involved in the hockey community from a young age, commencing hockey while at Hamilton West Primary School, continuing during her time at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls and now plays for Fraser Tech Hockey Club.
Julia’s passion for the sport means that she has been involved in umpiring junior and senior teams and coaching holiday programs and coaching clinics at Waikato Hockey Association.
She has played in the Midlands U18 and U21 Women’s teams for the last 3 years while balancing study and work alongside these campaigns. She trains 3-5 days a week in the gym and on the turf in the hope of representing her country one day.
During the month of June 2017 following the National U21 Tournament, she was invited to train in Auckland with the remainder of the New Zealand Blacksticks Women who did not compete in the Hockey World League Semi Final in Europe.
Many family members and peers have influenced Julia to get to where she is now, after giving up the sport of Sailing to focus on developing more in Hockey. She is passionate about the teamwork that is needed to make a hockey team successful, and that is why she loves the sport so much.
