Katie Trigg | Music / Performing Arts

Katie is a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholar, currently completing her third year of study at the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music. Katie has performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC as part of the 2017 Honors Performance Series, and prior to that toured with the NZSSC to Canada in 2016. Katie was also accepted into a highly competitive placing with the New Zealand Opera School for 2019, where she had the opportunity to work with top coaches and tutors including international tutors Russell Smythe of London, Della Jones of Wales, and Sharolyn Kimmorley of Australia. Katie has been accepted again into the New Zealand Opera School for 2020, where she will have the opportunity to work with international tutors César Ulloa of San Francisco, Nuccia Focile of London, and Sharolyn Kimmorley of Australia.
Katie loves being able to contribute to the community and teaches singing lessons to kids outside of her university hours, as well as being keen to participate in charity events by performing in fundraising concerts and markets. She is grateful for the gift of music in her life, and believes that hard work is integral to success in all kinds of disciplines.
When the weather is fine Katie enjoys longboarding to university as a great way to get fresh air and sunshine between all those long hours spent inside practicing.
