Kelsey Eames | Sport
2018Hello, my name is Kelsey Eames and I am the captain of the current NZ Under19 Womens Rafting Team!
I was born and raised in a small town of Mangaweka, New Zealand. Growing up on the Rangitikei River and following closely in my fathers footsteps I quickly developed a love for the river and the sports that revolve around whitewater.
I’m a positive, fun loving and outgoing kiwi chick, I love the outdoors and spending time with family and friends (Especially if it’s on the water!).
I have been rafting since I could walk and have a passion beyond words for the river.
I attended Taihape Area School for my high school career, where I was head girl in 2016, I played hockey all through high school but rafting quickly became priority when I was selected to compete in the NZ Under19 Womens Rafting Team, and travel to Indonesia in 2015 for the World Rafting Championships, where we placed 5th in the World.
I’ve spent most of my life helping and working for the family rafting business, where I have gained many life skills.
I currently reside in Okere Falls, New Zealand, where I am training hard and living it up on the Kaituna River.
My goals for the next few years is to continue my rafting and kayaking, and travel overseas to explore and discover what the rest of the world has to offer. I want to continue to the best of my abilities on and off the water and have an awesome time while doing so!
