2022Hi I am 16 years old living in Tauranga. I enjoy all sports and have been playing Hockey from 11 years of age. I really love the team comradery that hockey provides and the competitive athleticism. I also love swimming and first started competitive swimming at the age of 8. I am grateful to the sport which has given opportunities to meet new people, and for introducing me to the sport of Surf Life Saving, which I took up when I moved from Wellington to Tauranga at the age of 10. My family and I joined the Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service and I have enjoyed competing in the sport of Surf Lifesaving on the beach and in the pool ever since. This is the only sport that has a rule you can’t compete unless you are a volunteer lifeguard during the summer. I love summer and enjoy being at the beach, training hard towards my racing goals while being with likeminded people. I enjoy being fit and living an outdoor lifestyle. I believing in working hard and encouraging others.
I am heavily involved in all aspects of school life but am particularly passionate to inspire others to be confident in who they are and to give everything a go. I intend to push boundaries with sport in particular finding improvements in the participation drop off once students leave Secondary School as well as promoting more females to feel empowered to try new sports.
Currently I am working towards the Duke of Edinburgh Silver award. I am very proud of being one of 13 students in NZ selected to the inaugural New Zealand Secondary School Sport Athlete Commission.
