Linmari Le Roux | Sport
2025
My name is Linmari Le Roux and I will be the first person in my family to attend University. My family moved from South Africa to New Zealand in search for a better lifestyle, a safer one. At around the age of 3-4 I began my sporting career in hockey and athletics. Since then, I managed to gain many awards such as MVP in multiple teams, gold medals in my athletics – particularly the sprints, discuss and long jump and I had represented the Waikato in under 13s and under 16s until I got severely injured. By the age of 17 I had almost recovered and managed to get into the Te Awamutu Premier Reserve 1 and Te Awamutu Premier team, but I had a concussion during the Waikato under 18s trials and was not able to get into the team. I am in the Cambridge High School first 11 girls hockey team and we came third in the Chica Gilmer trophy in 2023 – I am also an assistant coach, and an umpire for Te Awamutu Intermediate and I will be following them to AIMS games for two years in a row.
