Maui Morrison | Sport

Hi, I’m Maui Morrison a 16 year old cyclist from Cambridge, I moved here from Wellington 8 years ago. I am a year 12 student currently attending Cambridge High School.

I started out riding bikes when I was 5 learning the skills of BMX. After breaking quite a few bones not all through BMX racing , I swapped bikes and did my first road and mountain bike race when I was 12 and discovered I really enjoyed riding those bikes as well. I have played a lot of other sports, soccer, rugby, & even swimming but it was riding my bike that I had the most fun doing. At 14 I made the decision to stop racing BMX to focus on other cycling disciplines. I have won national titles across all cycling codes as well as Oceania titles in BMX and XCO Mountain Biking. I have aspirations to to pursue a professional career in road cycling in the future.

Sport has provided me with a lot of opportunities and life experiences, I have been very fortunate to travel internationally through sport prior to Covid and would like to do more of that over the next few years. I am highly motivated and disciplined, and I have a strong work ethic and know that hard work pays off.

When I’m not racing or training it wouldn’t be unusual to find me mucking around on a bike at the pump track or with hanging with my mates building dirt jumps somewhere.
