Oliver Soar | Sport

Oliver Soar is a student at Waikato University, finishing his first year of studying a Bachelor of Business Analysis majoring in Accounting and Finance. He has had a real passion for rock climbing ever since he began four years ago. Having placed 1st in both the NZ National Cup series and NZ National Champs for 2017, Oliver is ranked 1st in the Under 20s category for lead climbing. Rock climbing has enabled Oliver to travel around New Zealand and overseas to compete at competitions. Rock Climbing has helped him in many aspects of life, such as providing time management skills to be able to balance the numerous hours of training per week with studying full-time at University. Oliver also works part-time at the Extreme Edge Indoor rock climbing wall where he trains. This gives him the opportunity to help train kids beginning to rock climb and to pass on his knowledge and experience of rock climbing both nationally and internationally.
