I am a 20-year-old powerlifter from Hamilton. I attend Waikato University where I am in my 3rd year of the Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science degree. The University gym is where I complete the majority of my training. I work two part-time jobs to help fund my University fees. I represent the Waikato Bay of Plenty Powerlifting association with my lifting. I first started lifting for the club in 2016 and have since then seen a huge increase in the level of my lifting. I am currently training 5 days per week in a bid to constantly improve both my strength and the technical aspect of my lifting. Although I only started lifting competitively 2016, it was in 2013 that I first discovered my love of lifting at school where I would go to the gym every lunch-time. Since then I have trained at multiple gyms across Hamilton and competed in various powerlifting competitions throughout the Waikato region. I currently hold multiple WBOP powerlifting records. I also hold both the junior and open age 74kg men’s New Zealand records for squat (240kg), deadlift (280kg) and total weight lifted (652.5kg). I hope to improve on these records in the near future. In 2018 I intend on competing at the IPF World Powerlifting Championships in Calgary. I hope to have a podium finish and break multiple world records at this event.
