Tuatai Curtis | Music / Performing Arts

Kia Ora and Kia Orana!

My name is Tuatai Lea Curtis and I am a current year 13 student attending Rotorua Boys’ High School. I am of Maori and Cook Island descent and I was raised in Australia during my childhood and intermediate years. After moving back to New Zealand I have continued my secondary education for the past 3 years, from boarding at my schools’ provided hostel to moving in with my family relatives. In this time I have achieved multiple cultural, sporting, and academic activities for the last three years and I am looking to further develop my skills in a tertiary environment. In this environments my focus of study will be through media and screen studies with theatre. My commitments have helped me expand my understanding of what it means to be a leader, performer, athlete, and an academic achiever. My career motivation is Film and to be recognised in this field of work would be an opportunity to fully posses. To be a filmmaker, you need to be psychotic in your desire to create a story for an audience to be captivated. In order to accomplish this I would like to show the world what our imaginations are capable of. I believe that anyone has the ability to bring together a group of people to create a vision. Creativity and imagination are the most important aspects in my life and to see other indigenous youths with similar passions, pursuing the art of film would be a world changing sight.
