Jackson Ogle | Sport
2020Hi
My name is Jackson Ogle and I am from Cambridge New Zealand. I have been Track Cycling for just over 4 years. My goal is to be in the New Zealand Elite Men’s Sprint squad, training towards future Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
I first started cycling in Christchurch as a Summer season sport for Rugby Training – but after setting a NZealand record time after only 3 months – I decided to focus on the track. We moved to Cambridge and I have been training in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Performance Hub and the Pathway to Podium program. Both of these have helped me invaluably with support on and off the Track.
For the past year I have also been working with Mitchell Wilson, a paracyclist who lost his sight as a result of a tumour. Mitchell has been working towards his dream of competing in the Para-Olympics. I pilot a tandem bicycle with Mitchell. In March 2019 we competed at the World Paracycling Track Championships in The Netherlands, placing 6th in the Kilo event.
Outside of Cycling my hobbies are hunting, fishing and water sports.
To help finance myself towards my cycling goals I have set up a business called
CL Fence Painting Services which I operate in between my training schedules.
I am working towards my business being managed by my staff – to allow my time to be freed up for
training towards my sporting career goals.
I hope to travel overseas in 2020 to gain valuable experience from a racing environment.
