I am the type of person who believes it takes many people to make a dream or a goal come true, and it is this support system that allows me to be able to uphold my own values – which include but are not limited to hard work, passion, trust, and commitment. I am a determined person as when I want to achieve a goal, I will work my absolute hardest to see this through, but once again I know that I cannot do this alone and I utilise ‘my village’ every step of the way. I also believe in being passionate about everything that I pursue, as this is what helps drive me and gives a purpose to the hard work I put in. One thing I am extremely passionate and committed to is starting up a dressage youth council/committee for youth in Aotearoa. Youth are not well represented in dressage, or equestrian sports in general and they are often scared to attend bigger national events as there is a fear of inferiority that surrounds them. I am making it my mission to break down the barriers seen in dressage between the youth and the adults in charge to encourage and nourish the younger generation in my sport. This has excitingly been accepted by the Dressage New Zealand Board, and I cannot wait to progress this idea further to continue to evolve sport for youth in Aotearoa.
