Bailey Lindsey | Music / Performing Arts
2021My name is Bailey Lindsey, I make music.
I’m currently 17 and living in Hamilton and attend Hillcrest High-school. I am growing as a musician/songwriter and I love to work on my personal music at home, but also outside of home where I’ve played in school groups like, jazz band, choir, barbershop and musical productions. I’ve been raised in a musical household where it is encouraged to get involved in music opportunities. This encouragement is what led me to begin drumming when I was 8, starting drum lessons was the start of my fascination with music. In 2020, after soaking up music for almost 10 years, I am exploring the world of music as a songwriter. Some of my current musical influences are John Mayer, Sting, Joni Mitchell, Jacob Collier, Stevie Wonder, Take Six, The Singers Unlimited, and Hiatus Kaiyote, these are just some of the musical artists who have contributed to how I understand and approach songwriting. These artists inspire me to push myself as a musician and they inspire me to see where my musical ideas lead and how far I can stretch my songs. I have been writing my own music since 2018 and I haven’t looked back since. In April of 2020 I entered one of my original songs “City Boy Hands” into the Play It Strange national Peace Songwriting Competition and won a joint first place, this accomplishment gave me an excellent opportunity to share my passion for music with others. My goal is working towards tertiary studies of music production, performance, composition and arrangement. My ambition is to pursue a career in commercial music, such as arranging for film and online media.
