Brie Bennett | Sport

My name is Brie Bennett, I’m 18 and I am in my final year at high school before intending to study Psychology at the UOW. From a young age, I have been involved in as many sport’s as i could until my parent’s told me I didn’t have enough time for another. Until eventually I settled down and put my passion into one sport which was surfing. Luckily for me, I’ve grown up in one of the best surf breaks in NZ: the little town of Raglan.
I value my family and the support they’ve given me through what I’ve accomplished in surfing so far. I started surfing when I was 11 and just fell in love with the sport, so much that I decided to take it to the next level and compete nationally/internationally. This idea was probably the best I’ve had, from this decision I’ve won multiple national titles, have been awarded Waikato Secondary Sportswomen of the Year, and have fortunately been selected in Waikato surfing teams and as a part of the NZ Junior Surfing team, where we competed at the ISA World Juniors in California. I’m so grateful for the people I’ve met so far and the places I’ve travelled, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
