Hi, I’m Dylan, an 18-year-old bike-crazy kid from Rotorua. I’ve been riding bikes for the last 15 years and I’m nowhere near stopping! I started riding bikes at 3 years old, given that we live 5 minutes from the forest, and my dad is still bike mad, after his own racing career in the ’90s. I grew up going for weekend missions with my family and mates ticking off new trails and rides, aiming to have fun out in the forest on two wheels.
At the age of 10, I entered my first race and was immediately hooked, this race is one of my greatest memories and it fueled the fire towards my racing today. Since then I’ve been having a blast riding and racing multiple disciplines at higher and faster levels. After a couple of years, I found that enduro was the perfect balance between fitness and skill for me, and after my first enduro race in 2015 and watching the 2017 Rotorua Enduro World Series (EWS) round, I started to follow enduro more and more.
After finding out the possibilities of travelling the world to race my bike I was set on the classic bike-racing dream. For the last 6ish years I’ve been racing enduro and prepping myself for the EWS.
Apart from bikes, I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise through Massey University. Studying through distance learning has been different, having to be more disciplined with study and budgeting my time. But distance learning has allowed me to keep working two part-time jobs to fund my future travels and I get to ride almost every day, which is mint!
