Geordie Chapman | Sport
2022Hi my name is Geordie Chapman and I am from Hamilton. I am 17 and a year 13 student at Hamilton Boys High School .
A rugby injury and time off the field introduced the new sport and passion of water polo, like rugby but in the pool. And from the first time in the pool and mastering the necessary “egg beater” kick, there was no looking back.
I have been playing water polo for 5 years and have throughly enjoyed the team environment and culture.
I have been a member of the Hamilton Boys Junior and Senior Premier teams since 2017. We have been under the great coaching and guidance of Rahiti Teokotai-White, and our high determination and commitment over the past 4 years, has taken us from the bottom of the table to the top. 2021 has been an exceptional year for the team and a first ever water polo National title for Hamilton Boys, with us winning both the North Island and New Zealand Secondary School Championships.
I have also represented Waikato in the under 14, 16, 18 and Mens Tier 2 leagues.
I have enjoyed giving back to water polo with coaching and training junior teams, and plan to continue this into the future.
My key achievement in 2021 was being selected for the New Zealand Under 17 squad, who will be competing at the World Junior Championships in August 2022.
Outside of water polo I enjoy boating and water sports, skiing, travel and hanging with friends and family.
