Jack Greenough | Sport
2022My name is Jack Greenough and I am a 16-year-old BMX racer from Cambridge. I have been fortunate enough to travel and race in many different countries across the globe in my 11 years in the sport. My favourite things about BMX are that we get the opportunity to be outside our comfort zone and try something new every time we train. I love the adrenaline rush that BMX gives me and that’s one of the many reasons I keep coming back.
I have been training for BMX semi-seriously for the last 5 years but my training was taken to another level after joining the BMX National Performance Hub in 2020. I have loved this opportunity to train with other Hub members and have our coach Matt Cameron on board.
I have played many sports growing up but I was the keenest on Rugby and BMX. Playing many sports growing up have taught me to be well rounded and how to time manage. BMX has taught me determination, discipline, adaptability and many more life skills which I am grateful for.
Coming through the age classes I have achieved many world-class results but 2020 and 2021 saw world champs getting cancelled. Although Covid-19 put international racing on hold, we had some great racing here in New Zealand. In 2020, we had both our National Champs and our North Island Champs at the end of the year, at both of these races I placed first and claimed my 6th age group Nationals win.
As I move out of age group racing into Junior Elite in 2022 still in love with the sport, I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
