TANNER FAMILY

I am eighteen years of age and in my last year at high school. I live in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga but am fortunate to board at St. Paul’s Collegiate School in Hamilton.

I have always been a keen sportsperson throughout my life, playing Volleyball, Hockey, Athletics, Touch and Cross Country. Although I enjoyed them all, Hockey was always my favourite and the one I excelled at most.

Since primary school, I have played Hockey and will continue to do so until my body no longer lets me. I am a passionate, hardworking and dedicated athlete; when presented with a challenge, I am always eager to rise to the occasion. Whether that is training, playing or coaching the younger generation, I am consistent with it all. I value service significantly and think it’s so important to give back to the community hence, my involvement in coaching younger hockey teams, umpiring and helping out at local academies. Leadership is another aspect that I value on and off the field. I have had many leadership roles in the past, such as captaining my representative hockey teams and school hockey teams.

I am heavily involved in Hockey at school, club, regional and national levels. I have represented Hockey in all top regional teams for my age group and have been involved with NZ U18s since 2019. I was involved in the Midlands Women’s U18 team in 2019, where I was the youngest player in the team. I attended the NZ U18s Women’s camp in 2019, 2020 and will attend another one at the end of 2021. I am currently playing my final year of school hockey and am hoping to continue hockey at a high level when I finish school. Overall, I’m looking forward to 2022 and hope to continue within a high-performance hockey while studying at university.
