I am 18 and a year 13 student at St Peter’s School Cambridge. I am a middle-distance runner and compete in cross country, road, and athletics events. I started running competitively and training as a 12-year-old and have thoroughly enjoyed my journey so far. Being a 2020 Adastra Recipient facilitated me to attend two New Zealand High-Performance Athletics Camps which I was selected for.
In the last year, I have had two serious injuries which have caused me to have several months off training. This has taught me resilience and inner strength as I have learnt to deal with adversity in sport. I am incredibly motivated to improve and am determined to achieve all of my goals, both academic and athletic.
In 2019 I wore the black singlet for the first time, representing New Zealand at the Australian Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs.
Last year I was selected for the New Zealand team for the 2021 World Secondary School’s Cross Country Champs in Slovakia and the Athletics New Zealand team for the Australian Athletics champs in Sydney.
Athletics provides me with a fantastic community to train and compete in. I love being part of a team, both school and club. As a senior at school, I can share my experiences and coach junior developing athletes. Along with this, I am the 2021 Cross Country Captain and have enjoyed being a part of leading our team to national success.
I am very excited to see where my athletics will take me and already looking forward to wearing the black singlet again.
