Rubi Hart | Sport

Kia ora, my name is Rubi Hart. I am currently a Year 12 student at Hamilton Girls High School. I have lived and breathed rugby since the age of 4. Growing up, sport has always been a major part of who I am. From being a National Judo Champion to racing on the beach and being a National Champion in beach flags and now to solely focus on rugby. I consider myself having strong leadership qualities because of my ability to connect with people. This year I was privileged to Captain the HGHS Premier 7s team as well as Captain the HGHS 1st XV.

This year I suffered a badly broken collarbone during my third game of the season. Having surgery has tested my physical and mental strength, but it ultimately has become a defining moment in my journey. Even though that was the end of my playing for this season, I still remained committed to the team and I showed up to every practice until the end of the season, even 2 days after having surgery. I have learned the importance of patience and maintaining a positive mindset, which have been instrumental in my rehabilitation process. This year’s setback has only fuelled my passion for rugby further.

I am striving to take the field by the end of the year with the plan of playing in the NZ Condors Sevens tournament. I am looking forward to a successful 2024, representing my School and Province playing rugby.
