Hi my name is Ryan Hastings, I am 17 years old and I live in Rotorua. I attend John Paul College and am in my last year of school. Mountain Biking has been my passion from a young age where I competed in every type I could. I now focus on Downhill as it is the fastest and most flat out discipline which is what I have always liked. The feeling of pushing yourself on a gnarly track with big jumps is what I fell in love with. Early this year I travelled to Europe for my first time ever and had the privilege of competing in a few UCI Downhill World Cups. It was a life changing experience for me and showed me that those big goals were not so impossible. I had an amazing result at the final round where I qualified for the finals that were broadcasted internationally and finished in 20th in the U19 mens category. In the future I hope to be able to continue to race overseas and see where it takes me.
