Hi, I am Sophie Hodges, I am a 16 year old year 11 student at Hamilton Girls’ High School. I started playing Squash at the age of 8. I am a member of the Hamilton Squash and Tennis club, a club that has been home to many great players/role models to aspire to and current Mitchell Cup champions 2019-2021 (top NZ Senior Women’s club team) which I was a member of team. Some of my personal qualities include hard working, determined and driven. In 2019 at the age of 14 was very fortunate to be selected to represent New Zealand at the World Juniors held in Kuala Lumpur where I learnt many valuable lessons and got to experience squash at the top level. Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to travel and gain international experience playing in Junior events, hopefully the world opens up to allow more international exposure both as a junior and then as a senior. One of the best things about playing squash is the awesome friends I have made from all around the world. Through my squash successes I hope to inspire young females to believe in themselves, work hard and achieve their dreams.
