Finn Lally | Sport

I have been raised in a sports loving family where most of my parents spare time has been following my brother and I around to our various sports. I played Rugby and Cricket to representative level before focusing all my energy on Basketball from around the age of 13. I only started playing basketball at around 11 but I quickly fell in love with the sport to the point it really became a lifestyle. Training is never a chore, I am happiest with a ball in hand! I am in year 13 at St John’s College where I have the privilege of being Head Boy. I love my school and feel extremely proud to represent my fellow students at any opportunity. I have played representative Basketball for Waikato from U13 to U19 and gained my first New Zealand selection in 2019 where our team competed in the Oceania Champs as part of the U19 World Cup qualifying process. During 2019 I was included in the New Zealand Tall Blacks Tokyo Olympic Long List. Obviously Covid-19 has had a major impact on the world and unfortunately the Junior Tall Blacks team of which I am a squad member, has been unable to continue the qualifying process for the U19 World Cup.
