When I was five years old I had the first opportunity to compete in the Weet-Bix TRYathlon. I whipped out the bike with training wheels and off I went, smoking up the course and getting my first medal for participation. Now, 13 years down the track the training wheels are gone, my participation medal is proudly hung on my wall and I am part of the New Zealand Age-Group Triathlon Team competing in Abu Dhabi in November of 2022.

Although Triathlon can feel like a full-time job I work to make sure my life is balanced across all areas. In 2023, I will be studying at the University of Waikato doing a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Environmental Engineering as well as a concurrent Diploma in Engineering Management.

Serving others is also something I find incredibly rewarding and necessary in my everyday life. Whether I am Tutoring children at the Waikato Refugee Centre, volunteering for sports events like the Special Olympics or even helping sort food and presents during Christmas at the Waikato Salvation Army warehouse, I find that serving others is a very rewarding and eye-opening opportunity.

Over the last few years, sporting events have been scarce due to the pandemic but I am looking forward to the 2022/2023 season ahead with the support of the Adastra Foundation.

At the age of five, I seized my opportunity to participate in the Weet-Bix TRYathlon. I hopped onto my trusty bike equipped with training wheels and set off, leaving a trail of excitement in my wake. That day, I earned my very first participation medal, which I proudly display on my wall. Fast forward 14 years and those training wheels are long gone. I’ve since evolved into a member of the New Zealand Age-Group Triathlon Team, earning my first start on the world stage and getting ready for another shot at an international podium at the World Triathlon Championship Final in Spain in 2023.

Balancing the rigorous demands of triathlon, I’ve also strived to ensure harmony in all aspects of my life. In 2023, my journey led me to the University of Waikato, where I am studying a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Environmental Engineering, complemented by a concurrent Diploma in Engineering Management.

Yet, my life isn’t solely defined by personal pursuits. Serving others holds a profound place in my heart and everyday existence. Whether it’s tutoring children at the Waikato Refugee Centre, volunteering at special sporting events like the Tauranga Multisport Festival, or aiding in the sorting of food and gifts during Christmas at the Waikato Salvation Army warehouse, the opportunity to make a positive impact on others remains immensely rewarding and eye-opening.

I eagerly anticipate the upcoming 2023/2024 season, fueled by the unwavering support of the Adastra Foundation.
